    Reverend Samuel Edger (1823-1882) was the first minister of the Lorne Street Hall, an independent Protestant congregation in Auckland. Arrived with his family on the Matilda Wattenbach 8 September 1862 for the Albertland settlement. Daughter Kate Edger (1857-1935 ) was the first woman to gain a New Zealand university degree (Bachelor of Arts, University of Auckland, 1877).
