Note inside cover of album : "The views in this book illustrate the method of working a Kauri Bush in Country too precipitous for tramways. The Wharekawa Bush was a State Forest Reserve on the Watershed of the Wharekawa River, between Tairua and Whangamata. It was twice devastated by fire. It was put up for Auction, and bought by the LOB.COY - they converted what was apparently a total loss into a taxable asset."
