The O'Hara legacy : the life and times of Ellen and John O'Hara

documentary heritage
  • Description

"The history of John O'Hara and his wife Ellen is essentially an account of their success in surviving the rigours of life as ordinary citizens of the British Empire during Victorian times. In compiling this record primary sources of information (letters, diaries, newspapers and the official records) have been used rather than any undue reliance on accounts from any one historian.

Some historical accounts differ in detail from historian to historian so I have selected the most likely versions for inclusion in this book."--preface.
