    New Zealand troopship magazine. Housed in NZ troopship magazine box 3. Vol.2 no.s 4-6 title : Serial raves. Sub-title of souvenir issue: being the story of a lot of men and a ship. Daily issues "edited by John Dory"; souvenir issue editor Lieut. E.H. Halstead. Includes nominal roll of No. 12 Transport, 3rd Echelon, 2NZEF. OC Troops Lieut-Col. Shuttleworth; Ship's Master Capt. J.W. Thomas. Produced by troops aboard Transport no. 12, 3d Echelon, 2NZEF.

    The Third Echelon of 2NZEF (356 officers and 6078 other ranks) embarked for the Middle East on 27 August 1940 in "Mauretania" and "Empress of India" at Wellington and in "Orcades" at Lyttelton. The convoy was joined on 31 August by "Aquitania" and HMAS "Canberra" from Sydney, and reached Bombay on 15 September. The troops in "Mauretania" and "Orcades" were trans-shipped at Bombay and continued the voyage to Egypt in "Empress of Japan, "Ormonde" and "Orion", which reached Port Tewfik on 29 September. 14 and 15 Forestry Companies, bound for the United Kingdom, trans-shipped at Bombay from "Empress of Japan" to "Orcades". They disembarked at Gourock on 7 November.
