    Tall tree 12-14m, branching at 4 m. Lower branches horizontal-crooked. Bark pale cream colour, with horizontal lines peeling off in large pieces, leaving creamy-brown striped bark beneath. Leaves dark green, rough surface, ovate, margins serrate. 2-3 leaves in axil. Divaricating branching. Catkins in 3's or 4's. Bark of branches glossy, dark brown at ends. Habitat: Near junction Cottage path and Crook's walk (by 22 mark). Aspect: open position. Ex Eastwoodhill Arboretum Sep 2018
