Once a grand and noble forest

documentary heritage
  • Other Name

Once a grand & noble forest (Alternate title)

  • Description

The butter book and Once a grand and noble forest are companion pieces speaking to the incredible deforestation of the Auckland region in the 19th and early 20th centuries. An expression of Toni’s personal interest and research into how Kahikatea forests in particular, were milled for boxes used in the export of butter to the UK. Her artistic and heartfelt response to the destruction for a use so ephemeral and disposable.
