    collected seed "Puebla State. c.25-27 km from
    Tehuacan on road to Esperanza; rocky humid slope;
    Alt 2250 m; 9 October 1991; stem to 1.2 m, woody;
    leaves very small; flowers pale violet; growing with
    D. coccinea (HJ 7342). In cultivation ray
    florets have distinct pale yellow bases forming a
    halo round the disc florets
