Locally common on exposed dry granite boulderfield and cliff faces under sparse Eucalyptus. Shrubs to small trees up to 8m tall. Bark peeling in grey, long tabular strips (peeling readily), snapping with a distinctive frayed apex. Upper branchlet bark cracking frequently and horizontally. Branches erect, scarcely pendant. Leaves yellow-green, oblanceolate to lanceolate very finely pubescent. Flowers with stamens arranged [3(+1,2) ap - 11as] x 5pe, outer staminal whorl reflexed, inner whorl spreading. nrDNA ITS/ETS voucher for Kunzea study. Potentially distinct from K. peduncularis s.s.
