Solitary plant, growing on the side of a vehicle access track to a reservoir. It is the only specimen I have found amongst gorse, manuka, mahoe etc. Probably grown from garden refuse, as houses back on to the other side of the access track, and garden waste is regularly dumped along the track. The plant is c. 3m tall and, with multiple stems, covers about 4m x 1m down a steep bank. Flowers crimson
