    reverse: Britannia with a flag in her left hand and holding out a laurel wreath in her right towards an advancing party of soldiers, in the background are two warships

    three bars: Transvaal / Orange Free State / Cape Colony

    ribbon: 32mm wide, red with two dark blue stripes and a broad orange central stripe
