      very wet swamp, with tussocks of grass, separated by water; growing in water, sheltered by grass. Habit: erect herb to ~25cm tall; pubescent all over; leaves much shorter than internodes, greenish red, secondary veins visible; flowers very large, white, 1cm wide x 8cm long; stigma curved, above anthers; ovary subsessile, pubescent; capsule slightly nodding, ~3cm long on 2-3cm long pedicel.
