A small patch growing in a heavily shaded site on clay lodged between serpentinite boulders within a deeply entrenched ephemeral portion of stream course (site would be submerged during heavy rain). Canopy dense - mostly pohutukawa / houpara / tanekaha. Uncommon though possibly overlooked due to its size and potential to be mistaken in the field for a Fissidens.
