Field Collection Notes
Uncommon - growing amongst Eleocharis acuta and Paspalum distichum on mounds within wetland near northern end. Plants erect, sprawling; leaves glaucescent when fresh with distinct red-laminal margin, subsessile; upper stems, ovaries densely invested in strigulose and glandular hairs; capsules sparsely invested in mixtures of strigulose and glandular hairs; flowers white, scarcely opening, 1.2-2.0 mm diameter. Seems to fit Epilobium insulare better than E. chionanthum which has larger flowers, glabrescent stems but subsessile leaves.
