    Abundant nikau (seedlings to tall adults) in regenerating native forest block, covenanted (5.6ha); some tall kanuka still present with kauri, totara, tall tree ferns and abundant nikau. The carpets of nikau seedlings presumably relate to when the bush was fenced off c.10 years ago. Many of the nikau seedlings had quite wide leaflets (like this specimen) reminiscent of northern offshore island nikau or Archontophoenix cunninghamiana seedlings
