    4 plants noted growing on a river terrace amongst Chionochloa rubra, Dracophyllum subulatum, Halocarpus bidwillii, Poa cita, Hebe venustula, Bulbinella hookeri. Leaves reddish, culms > leaves, spikes distant. Glumes light brown, paler midrib, short awn. Utricle upper shoulders sharply serrate, with bifid scabrid beak. Stigmas 3. Nut trigonous.
