    Upright-trunked tree with spreading branches. Ht ca 12m, DBH 37cm. Trunk grey-brown. Many branched. Leaves shiny purple-green upper with long fine hairs, especially along veins and margins; paler underside. Petioles purple-red, hairy.
    East facing slope. Canopy tree, tall forest situation.
    Purple Cut-leaf Beech.
