  • Field Collection Notes
    Tall, erect tree, with spreading branches and beautiful dark browny-red mod-dense foliage. Ht ca 17m. DBH 45 cm. Wood v v hard. Bark dk grey, smooth, horizontally wrinkled. Branchlets thin, alt. Leaves shiny red-brown upper with fine silky hairs lying flat on surface, and on underside tufted thickly in vein axils. Petiole hairy, also leaf margins. Leaves at top of tree look redder. Leaves held nearly horizontally. Pale brown bud-casings hanging down.
    At top of steep creekbank, adjacent to path and bridge. Canopy tree on Sth side of small hillside. Mostly sunny position.
