Field Collection Notes
Large, pyramidal tree with horizontal spreading lower branches. DBH below branching 44.5cm. Ht ca 12m. Bark mid-pale brown. Young wood paler. Tree in full bloom covered with lilac flowers, sweetly scented. Flowers lilac, fox-glove like, 9cm long, with pale cream throat. Four stamens lying with pistil style against upper side of flower. Flowers covered in fine silver hairs, on terminal spike. Emerging leaves semi-glossy, pale green, soft. Upper covered in fine hairs, underside woolly.
Sunny, eastern slope, open situation. Mod slope.
