Vigorous conical evergreen tree, 10m tall, DBH 30cm. Bark grey, wrnkled. Lvs glossy dark green above, paler beneath with conspicuous pale brown axil tufts. Wild collecting notes: Berry 8592, near Huasco, Hidalgo. Lvs to 8x3cm bright green above, paler beneath with slight white scurf; acorn cup 1.2cm across. Q. furfuraceae [Q. furfuracea, AK373465 & AK373467] also under this number.
