    New Zealand, North Island, Gisborne Land District, Eastwoodhill Arboretum, H8, to left of driveway leading up to Education Centre

  • Field Collection Notes
    Many trunked and branched large tree, ~9m tall. Spreading, but dense habit. Leaves dark green, glossy on upperside, yellowy-green matt beneath, opposite. Flowers v. sweetly scented, white, in bunches in leaf axils, stems joined at axil, 7-8 in bunch. Four-petalled, star-shaped flower, fat with protruding anthers.
    Some leaves on young branches serrated edged - serrations with sharp points. On mature branches, leaves smooth margined.
