Field Collection Notes
Mature tree, with spreading, dome-like canopy. Trunk dividing in 2 at 2m. Ht ca 5 1/2 m, dbh 42cm. Bark grey-brown, splitting into thick strips. Young wood dark brown, glossy, lenticellate. Branch ends downy. Branches curved and crooked with ends drooping. Lvs held out flat, emerging bright green, glossy with deeply indented veins - become darker and duller as older. Bracts red-blushed. Seed enclosed in papery winged capsules. Seeds appear before leaves.
Open sunny situation. Sheltered.
