Field Collection Notes
Upright many-stemmed, shrubby tree with sparse foliage. Ht ca 4m. Bark pale brown with raised lenticels. Slender, divaricating branches. Leaves pointing upwards, mid-green matt upperside, paler underside with raised pale midrib and mottled glandular appearance. Leaves in whorls of 3 near branchlet ends. Flowers deep pink with several layers of ruffled petals, opening to show whorled centre with anthers growing from odd-shaped petal-like base. Scented sweetly.
Sheltered, partly shady subcanopy sp under large Magnolia and Quillaja saponaria. Dry, warm situation. Full pm sun.
