    New Zealand, North Island, Gisborne Land District, Eastwoodhill Arboretum, M4, Burma Track, above Beechwood

    Small shrubby tree with laxly arching branching. Trunk divides in 3 at .5m. Ht ca 4m. Wood dark brown, shiny, with paler vertical bands. Bark peeling at base horizontally around stem. Branch attachments swollen. Lvs on curved petioles, 3 lobed, with leaflet surface curving and twisted. White midvein on upper side extends along top of petiole. Lvs dark green upper, paler underside.
    Shady situation beneath tall trees on mod steep NE facing slope.
