    Med-small tree with very spreading lower branches and narrow apex. Ht ca 6m. DBH 31.5cm. Trunk swollen at base, green, with conical sharp spines thicker and bigger at base. Some spines on branches near trunk. Branching in whorls. Leaves 7-8 palmate, elliptic, margins serrate, mid-green semi-glossy, but ready to fall. Lvs alt on pale green petioles swollen at base. Flowers 5-petalled, opening flat with v tall tube of fused stamens and crown of 5 pairs of anthers. Petals ruffled, pink and yellowy-cream.
    Open situation on lawn by driveway. Some afternoon shading. Private garden. G+C Martinez.
