    New Zealand, North Island, Gisborne Land District, Eastwoodhill Arboretum, J7, Yunnan Walk, to right of track in paddock, 150m down track from gate

  • Field Collection Notes
    Bushy shrub with many arching canes arising at ground level from base. 4m tall. Leaves mid-green, shiny upper surface, paler below. Hairs around midvein at basal end of leaf on underside. Leaves opposite. Flowers borne in profusion at end of branchlet, white with faint purple/pink tinge. Small "fox-glove" like, rising out of greeny-red sepal. Semi-sweet scent. Long hairs upper inside of flower - 3 anthers + stigma on lower inner side.
    Tall trees surround and partially shade it.
