    New Zealand, North Island, Gisborne Land District, Eastwoodhill Arboretum, R7, Douglas Cook Walk, on hill above path above Birch Hill Pond

  • Field Collection Notes
    Small, round-canopied tree with dense foliage and masses of flowers to near ground level. Ht ca 4.5m, DBH 15.5cm, below branching at 0.8m where trunk divides into 3. Bark mid-brown, wrinkled. Trunk deeply grooved. Many branched, dense, with branches drooping at ends. Phyllodes grey-green, smooth, dull, encircling stem facing upwards and downwards. Flowers bright yellow, in small fluffy balls. Faint scent.
    NE facing hillside. Sunny, steep slope. Open situation, sheltered by surrounding large trees.
