    New Zealand, North Island, Gisborne Land District, Eastwoodhill Arboretum, K3, the Theatre, just below Ocote Flat

  • Field Collection Notes
    Med-small, bushy tree, Ht ca 4m. DBH 32cm at 1m. Trunk dividing in 4 at 1m, many branched, dense, spreading canopy. Branchlets drooping under masses of orange-red berries. Bark mid-brown, hard. Branchlets red-blushed. Lvs dark green glossy upper, grey-blue paler underside. Berries glossy orange-red, round with flat base, up to 7mm across, 8mm tall. Golden, juicy flesh inside.
    On mod-steep SE facing hillside. Semi-shady situation on shady side of tall trees.
