    [Original det:] Elaeagnus x ebbingei.
    Many trunked and branched spreading, bushy, dense tree. Ht ca 5m, spread 9m. New growth upright, cane-like, branches golden brown, glossy, rough. Older wood dark brown. Flowers v. scented, waxy silver-white, on new growth. 4 stamens and central stigma, yellow pollen. New leaders have backward-facing spurs, like hooks.
    Nth west facing slope, sheltered, semi-shady open forest situation.
