    New Zealand, North Island, Gisborne Land District, Eastwoodhill Arboretum, H10, in garden outside Curator's House front door, next to terrace

    Plant nearest Sth end of house. NZ cultivated plant. Sprawling shrub with branches lying on ground. Orange-brown ridged bark. Young wood dotted with dark raised lenticels. Flowers lilac, salverform with fine silver hairs along outside of throat. Hanging in clusters of 4. Flowers larger than on native collected plant. Sweetly scented. 4 orange pollen covered anthers recessed in throat.
    Cultivated garden on Sth side of Curator's house. Shaded for part of day by house, and in summer by Camellias and shrubs.
