    The plot sits at the base of a scree slope between two small streams. The upper half of the plot is dominated by Chionochloa rigida and exotic pasture grasses. The lower half is boggy turf community with Mimulus moschatus and many natives. Greywacke parent material; moderate drainage, 0.3 m average top height; canopy cover 30%; grazed.
