      Low succulent shrub with very short stems about 3cm in diameter, forming a dense patch. Leaves diverging at about 45° in the rosette, to 13x16cm, broad triangular, fairly thick; convex beneath and with pale greenish-yellow tubercles, some bearing a small spine margin of leaf inrolled and bearing whitish spines; upper surface of leaf smooth or with a few spines or tubercles down centre. Inflorescence more or less erect; bracts scarious, tending adpressed or parallel to rachis. Perianth about 4.5cm long, cylindrical, orange outer segments, yellowish-white inner segments; all segments with greenish apical band inside. Filaments and style pale yellow.
