human history
  • Description

Raupatu 2021. Bone, driftwood, harakeke, muka.

Carved driftwood face, with a [cow rib] bone handle attached with two screws. Handle is bound with woven harakeke at lower end. Dyed yellow muka is lashed in segments around the woven handle. A plaited harakeke loop is attached toward the open end of the weaving. One portion of the yellow muka lashing has suspended a single shell on a length of muka.
