David Goldie (1842-1926) was the Mayor of Auckland from 1898 to 1901, and father of artist Charles F. Goldie. He was born in Hobart, Tasmania and emigrated to New Zealand in 1863, where he became a prominent timber merchant in 1867. He was a well respected politician and active member of society. He died in Auckland in 1926, and is buried at Purewa Cemetery.
