After entering German territory on 3 December, 1918, the British Army of the Rhine was established as the occupying force in March 1919. They were based in Cologne.
Subject Notes
After the First World War, Sir Charles Fergusson was appointed Military Governor of Cologne, retiring in 1922. He was then appointed Governor General of New Zealand in 1924, serving until 1930.
