Message reads: "Dear E. I received your PC alright & also that one of Irvine. I think he is just about as ugly as I am but by joves he has grown since the last time I saw him that is a few years ago. I had a letter from that [sod] of mine or from her lawyer. I mean he threatened to summon me if I did not put in £2.8 so I sent it down. The swine told me before I left that she did not want any money, until December. Sent you down £20 on Monday so suppose you will have it by now. That was all I could afford [for now]. I want to get a suit & after I will send the rest. Too dry here. Rite soon & have a [booze] for 4 me. With love from Jim. I came back how is that, no news from home. Kia ora koe to you both.".
