Belt, of shells and plaited pandanus leaves. The base is made of baa ni kaina (pandanus leaves) of natural and red-brown colours. This is rarangaki (weaved) with serrated edges. Towards each end of the belt, the base transitions from raranga to a two-ply braid of natural-coloured baa ni kaina. This is knotted at each end with loose strips of baa ni kaina in a tassle-like manner. Across te raranga section of belt, twenty-eight buuro (cowrie shells) are neatly attached in a single file. The shells are threaded onto the base, using thin commercial string.
