Wooden bowl. This ‘umeke lā‘au has been carved from lā‘au (hardwood) into a round, flat- bottomed bowl. Its surface is smooth in treatment and it is brown in colour. Some scratching is visible on the base. The even, circular markings on the base suggest it was wood-turned. Light tones of the wood also suggest it could be monkey pod or mango wood.WāhiHawaii/United States of AmericaAccession Number1985.168Rā Tāpiringa07 Jun 1985Tohu Tuakiri Kē51821 (ethnology)WāhangaPacific Uiuitia Tāpirihia ki Taku Kete ‘Umeke lā‘au, 1985.168, 51821, Photographed by Denise… … Read more Tirohia ngā pikitia Mātātuhi me ngā tuhinga Mātātuhi Mātātuhi Taonga Taonga Rārangi MihiCollection of Auckland Museum Tāmaki Paenga Hira, 1985.168, 51821Takenga ā-AhureaHawaiianKaiwaihanga Matua Unknown (Maker)WāhiHawaii/United States of AmericaRāCirca 1985Tikanga WaihangacarvedWaitohu/mākaAloha Hawaii 51821 (handwritten)Pāohowood/plant materialHuinga KaupapaFood and Feasting/- PACIFIC SUBJECTS -Taumata whakarōpūBowlContainerDistribution & Transportation ArtefactsWhakahounga o Mua31 Jul 2023 E hangaia tonutia ana te kohinga tuihono a Tāmaki Paenga Hira; tāpirihia ai ngā whakahoutanga me ngā pūkete i ia wiki.
