Tivaevae paka onu. Paka onu refers to the pattern which is 'turtle's back'. Large rectangular quilt or bedspread. Sewn by hand from coloured pieces of cotton fabric cut into small hexagonal pieces and arranged to create a repeated hexagonal paka onu (turtle's back) motif in colours of red, orange, pink, yellow and cream. Design sewn to a backing sheet of cream-coloured cotton.

Several women's input in creating the tivaevae evident by small letters, likely the initals of names, stitched to hexagonal pieces aorund the tivaevae in red cotton. Borders of cream-coloured cotton at each side of the design. The tivaevae is frayed in many areas, with color fade and stains. Backing sheet shows many areas of stain and fabric deterioration.
