Mk IV water bottle with felt cover, as used by the New Zealand Mounted Rifles during the Anglo Boer War
The Mk IV water bottle was introduced in July 1895 and was used by New Zealand units in South Africa during the Anglo Boer War. They continued to be used in New Zealand by Garrison Artillery, Field Artillery, Engineers and Mounted Rifles until 1914 when they were replaced by the Mk VI water bottle with sling carrier.
