    Vaka akaraanga. Canoe, model. Small scale model of a double hull canoe carved from rakau (wood) tou (Island Walnut) with parau (pearl shell) inlay, rauara (pandanus) akamanea (decoration) and puru arkari (coconut sennit) lashing. Hulls and side boards carved from wood and lashed together. Parau inlay of geometric shapes along sides of the hulls. Fine puru akari lashing. Rauara panels border the top sides, also lashed to the hulls.

    Upper sides of the hull constructed from rauara with red fibre borders, possibly of apuraka (giant swamp taro). Additional rakau attachments placed on top of the vaka. Parau shaped to be the vaka's sail. The two hulls lashed together and connected by three horizontal rakau strats.
