  • Description

i Wau Gugu. Club. Carved from a single piece of kau (wood), with the liga ni wau (handle of the club) round in cross section. The ulu ni wau (head of the club) is flat and broad, resembling the shape and form of the butterfly fish or Tivitivi fish. Short tavatava (shallow incisions) are carved across the ulu ni wau, the design resembling scales of the fish, with a small round protrusion on both sides of the ulu ni wau, possibly resembling the eyes.
