It is made from both lau fou (lace bark) and lau fā (pandanus leaf). lau fā has been used to form the circular foufou. Lengths of lau fou have been used to weave over the two bands of lau fā portraying a plaited finish across the head band piece. An embellishment made of lau fou has been attached to the area where the bands have been closed off and stitched together. The embellishment features a pom-pom style piece with twirled ribbons and a bow made of the same material fibre. The entire foufou has retained its natural pale yellow colours.WāhiNiueAccession Number1966.207Rā Tāpiringa1966Tohu Tuakiri Kē38794 (ethnology)WāhangaPacific Uiuitia Tāpirihia ki Taku Kete Foufou, 1966.207, 38794, Cultural Permissions Apply Tirohia ngā pikitia Mātātuhi me ngā tuhinga Mātātuhi Mātātuhi Taonga Taonga Rārangi MihiCollection of Auckland Museum Tamaki Paenga Hira, 1966.207, 38794Takenga ā-AhureaNiueanKaiwaihanga Matua Unknown (Maker)WāhiNiueRāPre 1966Tikanga Waihangahandmade handwovenWaitohu/māka38794; NIUE (handwritten)Pāohopandanus (leaf)/leaf (plant material)/plant material[hibiscus (fibre)]/plant fibre/natural fibre/fibre/AAT MaterialsRaraunga Ine330mm170mm35mmHuinga KaupapaFibrework/- PACIFIC SUBJECTS -Taumata whakarōpūOrnament, HeadBody AdornmentOrnamentPersonal ArtefactsWhakahounga o Mua20 Oct 2023 Tūemi e whai hononga Ngā hua o DigitalNZ Independence unlikely option for American Samoa Radio New Zealand Leaders in NZ Pacific communities among those to get Queen's Birthday Honours Radio New Zealand WELLINGTON CENTRAL MISSION (Evening Post, 02 October 1912) National Library of New Zealand Tagata Pasifika: The Hawaiians (1991 documentary) Tagata Pasifika Tagata Pasifika marks 35 years on screen Tagata Pasifika Mea e whai hononga ai E hangaia tonutia ana te kohinga tuihono a Tāmaki Paenga Hira; tāpirihia ai ngā whakahoutanga me ngā pūkete i ia wiki.
