    This bowl illustrates the story of Tama Te Kapua's dog, Potakatawhiti, and how he helped Tama Te Kapua and his brother Whakaturia steal the bowl of Uenuku. The bowl is elaborately carved, and features Whakaturia and Tamatekapua, sitting atop Potakatawhiti and grasping the bowl. This lid itself has two low relief faces, and two projecting faces. The entire bowl and figures are intricately carved with rauponga designs and have paua inset eyes.
