Pau mango. Sharkskin drum. Musical instrument. Played by hand as evidenced by wear of the shark skin stretched across the top. Made from composite materials. Carved kuru timber (breadfruit) of natural colour for the frame and the carved arero (tongue) of the drum (internal, affects the sound and timbre) . Mango (shark) skin stretched across the top with kaa (braided coconut sennit) lashing tightly over the length of the circumference.

15 holes carved out around the base for the lashing to loop through securely. Decorative vaito (designs) include pa maunga (chevrons), etu (stars) and tatauro (cross) designs.
