Bag made from seeds of the vaivai tree (Leucaena leucocephala). There are two types of seeds used, one is a small oval shaped brown seed, and the other seed is a circular red seed. The two types of seeds are from both the large and small vaivai tree. They are bored and with black cotton thread threaded through, forming the basikete and belt. The basikete is connected to a strap or possibly a belt with a loose, short chain made of bored brown seeds threaded onto black cotton thread.WāhiFijiRā TāpiringaCirca 1924Tohu Tuakiri Kē9613 (ethnology)WāhangaPacific Uiuitia Tāpirihia ki Taku Kete Basikete, 9613, Photographed by Jennifer Carol, digital, 16… … Read more Tirohia ngā pikitia Mātātuhi me ngā tuhinga Mātātuhi Mātātuhi Taonga Taonga Rārangi MihiCollection of Auckland Museum Tamaki Paenga Hira, 9613Takenga ā-AhureaFijianKohingaIsaacsKaiwaihanga Matua unknown (Maker)WāhiFijiRāUnknownTikanga WaihangastrungPāohoseed/plant materialRaraunga Ine155mm355mm30mmTaumata whakarōpūBagPersonal GearPersonal Artefacts Bag, CarryingPersonal Carrying & Storage GearPersonal Gear03 Personal ArtifactsWhakahounga o Mua04 Dec 2019 Tūemi e whai hononga Ngā hua o DigitalNZ Cullen and Co's Millinery.
