shield

human history
  • Description

Round shield made of [rhinoceros] hide. Dome-shaped with a raised lip around the perimeter. The shield is a dark grey colour, with some natural streaks of white. At the top of the dome, in the centre of the shield, are four smaller metal domes. They are brass-coloured, and are decorated with small points which lay flat on the shield, fanning around each small dome. One of the metal domes has a small hole in the top.

There are two small holes one on side of the shield, at the base of the lip. On the back of the shield, there are two brown [leather] handles which are connected to one another with pink and yellow rope. There is a small cushion and metal ring on the back of the shield, behind the handles.
