Pate Faiva

    Pate Faiva. Dance club. Or pōvai moungalaulau. Paddle club. Pōvai are clubs used by men and warriors in times of combat and warfare. Pate faiva are dance clubs which are used by males in certain types of faiva (Tongan dances). It is not clear whether this is a pōvai or a pate faiva. It is carved form one block of wood, light brown coloured, and sword/paddle shaped.

    The handle is long and cylindrical in shape, it tapers out into a hilt, from where the blade begins and tapers out slightly and then into an long oval tip. There are five double lined inlaid sections along the blade.
