    Basket

    An Aleutian fishing bag. Made from dried plant fibre and cotton thread. Fine plant fibres are woven using twinning technique. A circular base with concavity to underside. The basket body and opening are floppy. A band of cotton thread is embroidered into the weave located below the opening, threads of red, yellow, purple, light blue lines. A draw string is braided and attached around the opening with one loose braided cord that is used to tightened the opening. The weave at the base is damaged and breaking away from the basket body
