Kafa kula. Beaded kafa. Kafa kula is the name given to a decoratively beaded kafa. They are most commonly worn over a plain kafa that ties a ta'ovala (waistmat) and often has a matching kahoa (necklace). They are worn on special occasions such as weddings, birthdays, white Sunday etc. This kafa kula is made primarily from black wool, which has been plaited and woven into a thick waistband, and has different coloured plastic beads strung on in various combinations.
