The handle and blade of this iri are constructed from cut and woven strips of voivoi (pandanus). The blade is circular in shape each 'face' is flat woven voivoi. One of these is woven in wider check than the front facing side which has additional design motif of an eight petalled flower, and the incorporation of a band of somosomo (black-dyed pandanus) design running horizontal across the face of this side of the blade. Along the entire periphery of the blade twenty short 'tabs' of voivoi are attached creating an overall flared 'sun' effect. All these components are machine sewn together. The handle is woven in thickly layered voivoi.
